Helping People Live Better Lives With Their Dogs Since 2010

The British College of Canine Studies was never created as part of a grand business plan.

It began with a simple belief:

The better we understand dogs, the better our lives with them become.

For many years, I worked directly with dog owners, helping them overcome everyday challenges with their dogs. Some needed help with training. Others were struggling with behaviour problems. Many simply wanted to understand their dogs better and build a stronger relationship with them.

Again and again, I found myself teaching the same principles.

Not because owners didn’t care.

But because nobody had ever explained things in a practical, easy-to-understand way.

Over time, those lessons became handouts.

The handouts became study materials.

The study materials became courses.

And eventually, those courses grew into what is now the British College of Canine Studies.

Today, BCCS provides online canine education to students around the world, covering topics such as behaviour, training, health and nutrition, dog walking, canine first aid, therapy dogs, reactive dogs and responsible ownership.

Thousands of students have studied with us since our launch in 2010.

Yet despite our growth, our mission has remained exactly the same.

Helping people live better lives with their dogs.

A Different Way of Thinking

During my time working in France, I was fortunate enough to hold the role of Owner Trainer.

It was a title that immediately made sense to me.

Not Dog Trainer.

Owner Trainer.

Because dogs do not attend courses.

Dogs do not read books.

Dogs do not make training plans.

Owners do.

That philosophy continues to influence everything we do at BCCS today.

We believe education is most effective when it empowers people to better understand, guide and support their dogs.

The focus is not simply on changing dogs.

The focus is on helping owners succeed.

Introducing BCCS Dog Owner Guides

As the College grew, we recognised something important.

We’d strayed from directly helping dog owners. It’s great that we are the course provider we are. But dog owners don’t want qualifications.

They just want practical, trustworthy advice.

That is why we created BCCS DOG™.

Our Dog Owner Guides are designed for everyday owners who want straightforward guidance without exams, assignments or technical jargon.

Whether you are bringing home a new puppy, adopting a rescue dog, navigating behavioural challenges or simply looking to strengthen your relationship with your dog, our guides are written to help you succeed.

The same knowledge.

The same practical approach.

Presented in a format designed specifically for dog owners.

Looking Ahead

Dogs continue to enrich our lives in countless ways.

Our goal is to continue helping owners and canine professionals alike through education, guidance and practical support.

Whether you choose one of our professional courses or one of our Dog Owner Guides, we hope you’ll find information that helps you better understand your dog and enjoy many happy years together.

Because at the heart of everything we do is a simple belief:

Great dogs are not born. Great dog-owner relationships are built.
